Cotton Fabric, most simply put, is the fabric that breathes. Made from a soft, fluffy staple fiber, Cotton grows in a boll around the seeds of the plant, (yes, boll, i.e. the rounded seeds capsule of plants such as cotton or flax). The fibers of cotton are hollow and upon close inspection resemble twisted ribbon. These fibers are usually woven or knit into fabric by means of the two most common methods: plain weaves & twill weaves. Know for absorbent qualities, most cottons will retain 24-27 times its own weight in water. Stronger when wet, this fiber absorbs and releases perspiration quickly, thus allowing the fabric to ââ¬Åbreatheââ¬. Cotton tends to take to dyes easily, can withstand high temperatures without disintegrating, can be ironed to combat itââ¬â¢s wrinkle-prone nature, stands up to extreme use and abrasion all while wearing well.
